- ddddbbbbmmmmmmmmaaaannnnaaaaggggeeee is used to create and update the DBM format files
- used to store usernames and password for basic
- authentication of HTTP users. Resources available from the
- hhhhttttttttppppdddd Apache web server can be restricted to just the users
- listed in the files created by ddddbbbbmmmmmmmmaaaannnnaaaaggggeeee.... This program can
- only be used when the usernames are stored in a DBM file. To
- use a flat-file database see hhhhttttppppaaaasssssssswwwwdddd.
-
- This manual page only lists the command line arguments. For
- details of the directives necessary to configure user
- authentication in hhhhttttttttppppdddd see the Apache manual, which is part
- of the Apache distribution or can be found at
- http://www.apache.org/.
-
- OOOOPPPPTTTTIIIIOOOONNNNSSSS
- _f_i_l_e_n_a_m_e
- The filename of the DBM format file. Usually without
- the extension .pag or .dir.
-
- _c_o_m_m_a_n_d
- This selects the operation to perform:
-
- aaaadddddddd Adds an entry for _u_s_e_r_n_a_m_e to _f_i_l_e_n_a_m_e using the
- encrypted password _e_n_c_p_a_s_s_w_o_r_d.
-
- aaaadddddddduuuusssseeeerrrr Asks for a password and then adds an entry for
- _u_s_e_r_n_a_m_e to _f_i_l_e_n_a_m_e .
-
- cccchhhheeeecccckkkk Asks for a password and then checks if _u_s_e_r_n_a_m_e
- is in _f_i_l_e_n_a_m_e and if it's password matches the
- specified one.
-
- ddddeeeelllleeeetttteeee Deletes the _u_s_e_r_n_a_m_e entry from _f_i_l_e_n_a_m_e.
-
- iiiimmmmppppoooorrrrtttt Reads username:password entries (one per line)
- from STDIN and adds them to _f_i_l_e_n_a_m_e. The
- passwords already has to be crypted.
-
- uuuuppppddddaaaatttteeee Same as the "adduser" command, except that it
- makes sure _u_s_e_r_n_a_m_e already exists in _f_i_l_e_n_a_m_e.
-
- vvvviiiieeeewwww Just displays the complete contents of the DBM
- file.
